Discover the Rome that surrounds you

Discover the authentic heart of Rome

Rome is a city to be experienced with all the senses: millennial history, deep culture, and neighborhoods that tell the story of the daily lives of its inhabitants. In addition to the great monuments, its neighborhoods and surrounding areas offer unforgettable experiences, including picturesque streets, lively piazzas, and local cuisine.

Trastevere

In the heart of the other side of the Tiber, Trastevere enchants with its narrow streets, lively squares and unique bohemian atmosphere. It is the perfect place to get lost on foot among ancient churches, artisan stores and traditional trattorias.

Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere, with its stunning basilica of golden mosaics, is the beating heart of the neighborhood.

Head down to the river, cross Ponte Sisto and discover typical locales where you can enjoy an aperitif at sunset.

In the evening, Trastevere lights up: bars, wine bars and live music fill the squares late into the night.

Testaccio

Just south of the Aventine Hill, Testaccio is the quintessential Roman neighborhood dedicated to taste and local life: less touristy and more authentic, cuisine takes center stage here.

At the Testaccio Market, you can sample specialties such as supplì, porchetta and other Roman delicacies straight from the artisans' stalls.

This neighborhood, once an industrious area linked to slaughter and the exchange of produce, is now home to historic trattorias, modern aperitif spots, and a young and lively nightlife scene.

Stroll around the quaint Piazza Testaccio-it's the heart of local sociability, perfect for an ice cream or a glass of wine.

Vatican

A short distance away is the world's smallest state: the Vatican City, a must-see destination for art, faith and history.

St. Peter's Basilica, a Renaissance masterpiece, dominates with its majestic dome and offers spectacular views of the square and Rome.

The Vatican Museums hold one of the world's most important art collections, culminating in the famous Sistine Chapel.

The neighborhood around the Vatican, including the Borgo district and the streets that follow the route between Castel Sant'Angelo and St. Peter's Square, is ideal for exploring historic routes and stopping at local cafes and bistros. Vatican attractions often require advance reservations due to the large number of tourists.
